EXCLUSIVE: 60 Seconds With Heymous Molly

With Pitbull's eight studio album Globalization released next week there is one particular song and collaboration on the album which many of us fans are eager to hear, that is Day Drinking with Heymous Molly.

Pitbull runs through the globe too fast to catch, however I did catch up with Mr Life's a Beach himself Heymous Molly who gives us more insight into his current song, upcoming Day Drinking on Globalization, what is behind the name and always being on the grind who even knew Pitbull even knew what taking a vacation was? Without further a do, let's start the party a little earlier and embark upon some Day Drinking with Heymous Molly.

Tell me more about the name 'Heymous Molly?'

It's two Irish first names. I did it like that as a tribute to the love that I have for the adult beverage called Jameson.

Produced by The Dirty Southaners, Life's a Beach has been a hit - congratulations! Where were you when you had the moment of inspiration for the title?

We came up with the title in the studio down here in sunny South Florida. Miami Beach. 

A fantastic and very engaging Life's a Beach lyric video. Is that you on the bike taking us through South Beach?

We needed a fast turnaround so the majority of the footage is stock from a professional media company. But it's much close to my daily bike hang in Miami.

We heard Mr Worldwide is a fan of Life's A Beach. What was Pitbull's reaction when he first heard the song?

I sent it to him right before his vacation in the tropics. And I'm thinking the timing and the setting made Life's a Beach his vacay song. 

Who are your lyrical influences?

I'm a big fan of Dylan, Paul McCartney, Prince, Pharrell Williams, Wyclef Jean, Andres Karlsonn, Notorious B.I.G, Beastie Boys and Busta Rhymes.

Have you always wanted to be a recording artist or is that something which evolved later on?

It was something that evolved. 

What is your favourite 'drink in your hand?'

Jameson and ginger ale. But also 'call a cab' at Wet Willies on Miami Beach.

What is your favourite beach song past or present?

Anything from the Beach Boys that has to do with the beach and a Canadian group called LEN 'If You Steal My Sunshine'

We hear you've got a song with Pitbull coming up on Globalization - how did that come about?

The song came to us by way of his manager Charles Chavez, and it was intended as a follow up for 'Life's a Beach' but Pit loved it too and it became a duet (kill two birds with one stone)

What's your most memorable or favourite part of recording that song?

Capturing the right vibe so that I did the song justice. Making sure that Pit felt that this was a strong song for the album and possible for a single down the road.

Were there any artistic differences in ideas whilst making the song or both on the same page?

We both were on the same page for sure.

Can we expect a Day Drinking video in the future?

It's possible that there will be a video. This is a strong record. 

What would you like Pitbull fans and 'Heymollies' to take away from Day Drinking?

Let loose 'n' have fun with it. Crank it out loud at every sporting event TAILGATE because that's what it's meant for. And of course the beach. 

What's next for Heymous Molly?

Just to continue grinding. I have an EDM feature with @Wiltril coming out at the end of November/beginning of December. So look out for that. A possible duet with Mandy Rain.

Writing and producing with the Fliptones, the Franchise, these Nordic dudes from L.A. called DSIGN Music, J.D. Williams, and The WHOADY.

WHAT IS PITBULL LISTENING TO THIS MONTH? HEYMOUS MOLLY!

We all listen to Pitbull, but ever wondered what Pitbull is listening to from to time to time? Well wonder no more, looks like this month Pitbull has been jammin’ to Life’s a Beach by Heymous Molly, also under his own management team Latium Entertainment. The song also happens to be The Dirty Southaners first

production to be featured on the front page of iTunes ‘What’s Hot’ and within its first week also hit No.54 on the iTunes pop singles chart.

Unusually, Mr Worldwide tweeted what he was jammin’ to, so off I go to have a little listen and see what’s causing Pit to tweet and what’s floating his boat this month. A pleasant surprise awaits! It is THIS hot summer, feel good track storming its way through.

A drink in your hand and toes in the sand and being kissed all over by warm sunshine, wouldn’t it be amazing if you could just bottle that feeling? Looks like now you can with a beat and a rhyme to evoke those emotions whether you’re on a beach or walking through the pouring rain, it seems to do the trick (the latter tried and tested by myself). Thanks Pit, now it’s stuck in my head 24-7, but happily stuck may I add.

As you’re already jammin’ away to it, how about a little cheeky Pitbull remix, dip those toes into this genre too,  plus I can already hear the remix in my head. Having given it more thought, we all know who is Pitbull and now what he has been listening to this month,  yet one question that still baffles is who is Heymous Molly?

Stephanie Heymann took Timber to Country all the way with her fun, infectious and refreshing remix.

I had the opportunity to speak to the very talented and gorgeous Stephanie about her unique twist on Timber. Stephanie also talks more about her career, Dirty Southaners, being in the original Timber video as well as Pitbull. Read on for some more revealing and interesting facts all round.

So nice to meet you Stephanie & Thank you so much for taking the time to talk to me

I really enjoyed your Timber remix- how did that come about?

The original Timber song already had that Country feel! The video was actually shot in a Country and Western bar near my hometown. We wanted to add in a little extra southern flavour to mix it up a little bit.

What aspects did you enjoy the most about working on the remix? 

Working on the remix was so much fun! Especially since it already had the Country vibe going on. My team and I wrote the lyrics together and added a little more twang to the production.

The Jump Smokers also have a version of their own. It's a high energy club mix! Very Miami. I love the fusion of all of the styles.

I think a video even a lyric would be great to sing-along to & get us fans more into the Country

swagger-is that a possibility?

There's definitely a possibility for a lyric video.

Do you know what Pitbull said after he heard your remix?

I'm not exactly sure what he said! But I know that he liked it! I hope it made him proud.

Apart from the Timber remix you have already been in the Pitbull camp for some time before- tell me more...

Believe it or not I started with Pitbull on tour as a promotional model. It was such a fun job we had our own tour bus and worked two hours a day taking pictures with a Pitbull cut out and then we got to watch every show! I also performed as one of Pit's dancers for Premio lo Nuestro, Premios Juventud and the New Year's Eve show 2014 (Dick Clark's New Year's Eve special). I got to know the team through this.  Omar Tavarez (Pitbull's drummer and musical director) is the one that helped connect the dots when it came to beginning my music career they're all so sweet and inspiring.

How long have you been writing Country music?

I've been writing my whole life! Mostly poetry. Writing music is pretty fresh on my hobby list but I really love it! It's such a great form of expression and Country music is easy to write because of my lifestyle. We've also had the opportunity to write with some amazing Nashville Country writers such as

Phil Barton, James Slator, Preston Brust and Brian White.

Who are your influences in the Country music scene and why?

I'm very influenced by Country legends Johnny Cash, Hank Williams and Loretta Lynn. I'm a huge fan of outlaw Country. My influences from today are Miranda Lambert, Eric Church, and George Strait.

What would be your dream collaboration in & outside of Country?

It would be pretty cool to collaborate with Bruce Springsteen or maybe the Lynard Skynard if he was still here. I love classic and southern rock music.

You work with Dirty Southaners Aaron Fishbein and long before with Omar Tavarez already for some time- tell me how he discovered your talents?

Omar and I met on tour! I never would have thought that we would work together creating music back then. I have always admired his work ethic and though it would be cool to be a dancer, I never thought that I would have this opportunity! Omar heard me singing in a car on the way to run up to Runyon

Canyon with a couple friends in LA. I didn't even know anyone could hear me singing along to the radio! We were both there for shows. (I was dancing for Flo Rida at the time).

You have an amazing and diverse career to date. What advice would you give any aspiring Country artists out there?

I would say just to be yourself! Don't try so hard to fit in. People love it when they can sense that you are true to yourself! Even if it's a little rebellious and against the grain.

Could you teach me something Country!

Oh! I can teach you all kind of line dances! Meet me at The Round up in Davie! One of my favourite things to do is line dance, two step, and west coast swing!

If you could remix or have been on another Pitbull song what would it be?

I love Pit's music! It's so fun to dance to...I can't think of a particular song this moment in time as he has so many great ones - but who knows, maybe we'll have an original song together one day!

You were actually in the original Timber video did you have a lot of fun?

The Timber video was a blast! I danced around with a huge boa! Kind of scary but still a great experience.
